Mommy WOW! I'm a big boy now!

Everyone who has ever owned a dog knows what you mean when you talk about their unique personalities. My new little man is no different. When we (ok when I) started looking for a new puppy to complete our family we (I) knew we wanted a Mastiff. The gentle giants are an amazing breed. The day we walked into Petco we never expected to walk out with anything less than a future 200 lb. puppy until we saw Sirius (Sirius Black, not Sirius Radio). From that day his golden eyes had me. I picked him up the next day and he has filled our lives with incomprehensible amounts of laughter ever since. Most recently, he decided he was too big for his kennel (he only sleeps in there at night and when we are gone for long periods). Last night I was reading the a book in bed and I let him roam around the room with our other 3 girls. About 5 chapters later I look down to see him sitting next to the bed with a huge grin on his face. I look around to see what shenanigans my 5 month old puppy had gotten into while I was reading about Gabriel and Michelle (hint hint next review) to find that he decided to move out. He had taken his pillow and blanket out of his kennel and laid them neatly at the foot of the bed then removed all his toys and laid them out flat around his new bed. I am not kidding. I almost died laughing. I put everything back in his kennel (because he still has accidents when he gets excited and its new carpet) and he did it again. So far his move out count is up to 3. Has anyone else ever had their dog do this. Here is the photographic proof. Enjoy. They grow up so fast.

Ember Review!

How are you supposed to start a book review when the book left you speechless? The only word that can begin to describe “Ember” by Jessica Sorensen is WOW! Ember is a story about a girl who can sense when people will die by touching them. It’s not easy being surrounded by death all the time but Ember learns to cope, until she meets Asher Morgan. She cannot sense his death, only the calm he brings her and she is instantly hooked.

This book is an amazing new look at a story many of us have heard. Jessica does it again, completely blowing your mind and pulling you into a world so beautifully created you couldn’t stop yourself even if you tried. She uses her amazing ability to make you fall for all of her characters whether you love them or hope they fall in a lake.

There are too many wonderful moments in this book to choose just one, but one of my favorite quotes is:  “Some guys like that.” “No they don’t.” He flicks his tongue ring against his teeth. “I want you to give me a shot- I want you to let me in and let me get to know you.” Asher Morgan, I would love to get to know you! **drool**

This book gave me goose bumps so many times I lost count but I do know it was AT LEAST once a chapter. I will warn you now, when you pick up this book you will not be able to put it down until you are finished. Then you’ll sit pining for the next book in the Death Collectors Series. The fourth slam-dunk for author Jessica Sorensen.

Don’t forget to check out Jessica’s other series: The Fallen Star, The Lost Soul and Darkness Falls.  Also, get ready because Jessica has another book coming out at the end of September, “The Secret of Ella and Micha." For teasers and info on her other books check out her blog!

"The Rise of Nine" by: Pittacus Lore

Have you ever been so excited for the release of a book that you pre-ordered it months in advance, then forgot about it only to have it show up on your doorstep like Christmas in July (well August, actually)? Well, that is what happened to me. I woke up on August 21st and there it was in all its Lorien glory... I owned "The Rise of Nine". This is the third book in the Lorien Legacies series and the combination of all the characters from Pittacus' "Lost Files" sub-series. This book starts off right where "The Power of Six" left off with Six in Spain and John escaping the Mog camp with Nine. Let me just say "This is the story we have all been waiting for!" After rescuing Marina and Ella, the girls and Ella's Cepan, Crayton, are off to India to follow a lead about another possible member of the Guarde. When they arrive their fun is just beginning. Back in America, John and Nine are recovering from the Mog camp and getting to know each other while uncovering the real reasons the US government is hunting them with Mog weapons. They finally join forces with the other Guarde and it is time for the Showdown! Who wins? You'll just have to read it to find out!
