Throughout history, myths and legends of extraordinary creatures have
been told and retold. Fantastic tales of demons and banshees, gryphons
and dragons, and of course, magic. Stories that every child grows to
learn are nothing more than fantasy…or are they?
Beyond the world you see lies a hidden realm, the Mythrian Realm, inhabited by all of the creatures you’ve been told are mere fiction. Only one thing lies between humans and the truth: the Nexus. A magical barrier erected millennia ago to separate the two realms, it has stood the test of time. Until now.
For Mythrian Sha Phoenix, magic is nothing new. But when she stumbles upon a portal on the verge of collapse, her fate will forever change. Pulled through the portal into the Human Realm, she lands in the middle of Detective Connor Flynn’s brutal murder scene. Soon it is obvious someone is using blood magic to try to bring down the Nexus. Together, Connor and Sha must work to unravel the secrets before the barrier falls and the realms collide.
The Nexus is breaking and all hell is about to unleash…literally.

Teaser:
As he walked up a set of stairs, the movement jostled her. If her lips just happened to brush against his neck when her head moved against the crook of his shoulder, it wasn’t her fault. She watched his throat work as he swallowed hard. Good, she was getting to him. Served him right when he’d gotten under her skin.
“Stop that,” he ordered, the command holding no heat. He shifted her weight for a moment while he unlocked the front door and pushed it open.
Unable to resist pushing him a little further, she brushed her lips against his skin once more. “Stop what?” Sha gazed up at him, the heat of his eyes making her melt. Those metallic eyes shifted and swirled unlike anything she’d ever seen, even among the Metallum Sorceri she’d met over the years.
He let her body slide down his, hands settling on her hips, holding her body close against him for a moment. “You’re playing with fire,” he warned.
“That’s alright, lucky for you, I’m an Infernum.”
“Really? And what does that mean?” Although he towered over her, his head was bent and she thought she might be able to reach his mouth if she stretched
“It means I happen to like playing with fire,” she whispered, standing on her tip toes to brush her lips to his.
She’d intended it to be a brief kiss, more of a tease than anything else. They hardly knew each other and had just escaped from a potentially deadly situation, after all. But the moment their lips met, all rational thought became impossible, incinerated by the flash of desire that swept through her.
One hand slid into her hair and fisted, pulling her head back to give him better access to her mouth. His tongue swept over hers, drawing a low moan from her. By the flame, his taste. Her hands grasped his coat as she pressed her breasts against his chest, pressure building low in her core. He was staking his claim on her, and she wanted more. Frantic to feel him, she pushed her hands beneath his shirt, running her fingers along his chest through the dusting of hair on his chest. Too soon he broke away, both of them breathing heavily.
“That—that probably shouldn’t have happened,” he said after a moment, stepping back to put some distance between them.
Sha touched her lips, swollen from their passion. Kissing him had electrified her senses, energizing her more than when she tapped a node, a direct line to power. It would be all too easy to become addicted to him. “That’s funny, I was thinking it should happen again.”
“Sha, I’m serious. I’m supposed to protect you, not make out with you on my porch.”
“Connor, I’m serious,” she mimicked. “I can protect myself and I don’t know what ‘make out’ means, but if it makes you feel better, I kissed you.”
His hand smoothed over her hair, brushing it from her face. “You’re a witch, aren’t you? Say it again.”
Confused, she cocked her head to the side. “Huh?”
“My name. I liked hearing you say it instead of ‘Detective.’”
Her heart melted a little. She had to tread carefully or she’d end up falling for this man. “Connor. And I’m not a witch, I’m a Sorceri, there’s a difference.”

I am a wife, a programmer, and now an author. I have an adorable mini
Schnauzer and more books than I have room for. I love reading romance because
no matter what may be happening in my life, I can always count on my books to
end happily ever after. The day I met my husband was the day I truly began
believing in happily ever after. After hearing me complain a few too many times
that I had “nothing” to read despite the hundreds of paperbacks scattered
around the house, my husband began suggesting I write my own stories. When I
finally took his advice I discovered that although I enjoy my day job as a
software engineer, my true calling is to be an author.
My sister drilled into me an appreciation for fantasy and mythology,
something I try to bring to my books. My debut novel, Breaking the Nexus started as a book written for NaNoWriMo and has
grown to so much more. It was the conduit that introduced me to a fantastic
group of independent authors who have changed my life in unimaginable ways.
When I’m not writing, I’ve found a passion for blogging and
interviewing fellow authors. I also love reading (of course!), baking, crochet,
sewing sock monkeys, playing video games, and all sorts of random crafts. I
have an incurable love of rubber duckies and stuffed animals, and I believe
nobody should have to grow up if they don’t want. <3, Lindsay

Fade to Silver Review
Fade to Silver is the second book in The In Between Series
by Catherine Converse and picks up right where the In Between left off. Adie
has gone top-side to start her first year of college and is playing on the
University Soccer team. After a match one day, she is shocked to find Rens
waiting outside the stadium. He runs away before Jeff can catch him but it can
only mean one thing, school is getting cut short this year. With Dannika still
at research, being back at IPA feels a little weird for Adie. When Adie steps
into a new girls dream, IPA heads to Montana to find the new
visionary and stop the murder from happening. Dannika in the mean time has
decided that she no longer wants to be a lab rat and tries to escape IPA and
head to the city. On her way, she gets captured by Rens who performs a memory
scan and takes her to Montana to help Raile figure out her dreams. With IPA
splitting resources between finding Dannika, and stopping the murders the new
visionary and Adie have seen they are pressed for time and information. Will
Dannika remember who Rens really is and help Raile and Tank escape? Will IPA
find the mysterious new visionary and bring her in to catch the killer? Read
Fade to Silver to find out!
This book is another smash hit by Catherine Converse. I did
not think I could love these characters any more but, I do. Adie is faced with
some tough decisions in Fade to Silver and she has to make them all alone.
Dannika really comes into herself and becomes a woman I truly admire. You
follow two story lines in Fade to Silver and Catherine does an amazing job
keeping both stories organized. The book was laid out very well and you always
knew exactly what you need to and nothing more. It is a very action packed
story filled with twists and turns you would never expect and I cannot wait for
more. Catherine did a wonderful job creating conflict between Witt and Jeff and
you really begin to see that everything is not what it seams. I cannot praise
this story enough! It is an amazing second installment in the series and I
cannot wait until I have the opportunity to read the third!

Interview with the Bad Man
Welcome to today's stop on The In Between Blog Tour! I was able to secure an interview with none other than Rens and let me just tell you that you will not want to miss this.
For those of you who have not read The In Between yet, I have two things to tell you. 1. Hurry up and read it because Fade to Silver is almost here and this is a series you do not want to miss for anything. 2. Rens - Bad Guy Extraordinaire, sidekick to RAM (the number 1 baddie in The In Between), is not to be trifled with. He has one hell of a mean streak and knows a lot more about IPA than he lets on. Now that you know what I had to go through to get this interview, welcome.

Now that you know what I had to go through to get this interview, welcome.
I walk into the room and eye the guy everyone is so afraid
of. Yea, he looks pretty murderous but I would not give up this interview for
anything. It is my chance to get inside the monsters head. My chance at Rens.
Jenn: Hello Rens, thanks for meeting with me.
Rens: Yeah. You got five minutes. Use it wisely.
Jenn: So, Mr. Evil Big and Scary, how does it feel to be
feared by the entire US Government?
Rens: First of all, I ain’t evil. I got a job to do. And I
do it better than anyone. You hear that? I say anyone. Everyone’s gotta get by somehow. You people are all uppity
with your education and your book reading and your interviews. Well, me, I got
bigger fish to fry. I take care of real stuff out in the real world. And as for
the government, they’re wimps with big titles. They know who to call if they
really want to get something taken care of, if you know what I’m sayin’. They
just give me the instructions, and I get paid. They stay as far out of my
business as possible. So I give them that. At least they’re smart.
Jenn: Tell me a little bit about you. I know about all of
your “achievements” but nothing about you.
Rens: You want get personal, huh? Well, come on over here,
I’ll show you all there is to know about me.
Jenn: According to Dannika, that’s not much to worry about.
Your hollow threats mean nothing to me. How did it feel being over shadowed by
the Ram, I mean it was really you that deserved all the credit right?
Rens: So you’re a tough girl, huh? You might have more
common sense than I thought. The Ram was a loser. You talk about evil. The Ram
was just that. Pure evil. But he was weak, and he lacked true street smarts. I
was instructed to ‘follow his orders’, but he never even knew that I was just
playing along. My real boss is the one everyone should be afraid of. But, then
again, I have a feeling that you already know that.
Jenn: Now that you aren’t hiding behind his shadow, what can
we expect?
Rens: The right people are starting to learn about me. About
what I can do. You’d be surprised who needs people like me. Yeah, that’s right.
Even the ‘good guys’ need a little help to get what they want. That’s where I
come in. You can bet that ol’ Rensy here ain’t goin nowhere. So get a good look
at this face, cuz this here’s gonna be the most famous wanted man that was
every protected by the so-called “good guys.”
Jenn: Oh yea Rens, and what is it that “you can do?”
Rens: I’d be happy to
show you, just maybe not here. You seem to have a rough side. I could use a
little help, you know. Getting’ to be kind of in demand. You’d have to get
those pretty little hands dirty, though. Not so sure you could handle that.
Jenn: What made you this way? I’m sure you weren’t always
like this.
Rens: You really want me to tell you about my worthless,
drug addict dad, or no, how about my mom, left me and my sister home alone for
days? No. No way I’m giving you all that unless you plan on coming over here to
sit on my lap and make it all better. But, how did I get like this—huge, manly,
unstoppable and awesome? When that crazy man Mayer got a hold of me, told me
he’d pay me the big bucks, and bail me out of jail, to help out in an
experiment, I might have been a little weak at the time. Didn’t do a lot of
weight lifting, if you know what I’m sayin’. But turns out I never had to.
Mayer had the right kind of science, gave me this body you be eying like candy.
I see you there, checkin me out. And I got real strong. I told him he should
bottle the stuff and sell it, but he’s so nuts he called his experiment his
baby, and then he said quote “people don’t sell their babies.” I told him that
yes, some people did. The smart ones. But he be crazy, man. Glad I’m not
working for him anymore, but I did get to stay this way. So I s’pose somethin’
good came of it.
Jenn: What does your mom think about all of this? Does she
know who you really are?
Rens: I see my mom every Christmas. She’s gonna freak out
this year. She did eventually straighten herself out, works as a secretary for
some insurance salesman. My sister still lives with her. That’s why I go back.
But what does she think? I don’t really care. I send them money. That seems to
shut her right up.
Jenn: Do you think you will get caught?
Rens: You’re kiddin’ me, right? I got friends in the right
places, if you know what I’m sayin’.
Jenn: And where exactly would those places be?
Rens: Everywhere you’ve ever and never been.
Jenn: Well, thank you for agreeing to “meet” me tonight. I’m
sure you have more pressing things to do so I will let you go.
Rens: My pleasure. If
you ever need a little company, well, you’ll never know where to find me, but
maybe I’ll just have to keep an eye on you.
Jenn: Maybe I’ll leave the blinds open,
Night Rens!
So, there is is. The man behind the mystery. I hope you all enjoyed getting inside his head with me. Don't forget to check out The In Between and Catherine Converse.

The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden
Beautiful, Painful, Moving, Perfect!
There are those who don’t get luck handed to them on a shiny platter, who end up in the wrong place at the wrong time, who don’t get saved.
Luck was not on Callie’s side the day of her twelfth birthday when everything was stolen from her. After it’s all over, she locks up her feelings and vows never to tell anyone what happened. Six years later her painful past consumes her life and most days it’s a struggle just to breathe.
For as long as Kayden can remember, suffering in silence was the only way to survive life. As long as he did what he was told, everything was okay. One night, after making a terrible mistake, it seems like his life might be over. Luck was on his side, though, when Callie coincidentally is in the right place at the right time and saves him.
Now he can’t stop thinking about the girl he saw at school, but never really knew. When he ends up at the same college as Callie, he does everything he can to try to get to know her. But Callie is reserved and closed off. The more he tries to be part of her life, the more he realizes Callie might need to be saved. (from Goodreads)
This book is beyond amazing! As I finished the last sentence, The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden easily shot its way up to the Number 1 spot in my favorite books by Jessica Sorensen list. It is a gritty, honest, scary and beautiful tale about the damaged lives of Callie and Kayden and how one night was able to change both of them for the better. Callie is a young woman I look up to tremendously. Her ability to change her life with the help of her friend Seth is a testament to how strong willpower can really be. Watching the Callie and Kayden grow together and help each other through the tough situations that riddle their past was heartfelt and touching. Jessica did an amazing job exposing their pain and showing their hope. All of the characters are able to band together and use each other to help overcome their issues.
This book portrays a very true view of what some people go through and it is not only an amazing read but will prove to be a great tool helping people in similar situations. I cannot rave enough about this book, I can only hope it is released before Christmas so I can buy copies for my family.
On the other side of the gritty nature of this book is a wonderful story about love and trust and how it must be earned. Jessica adds another smash hit to her adult contemporary bookshelf and had me drooling, more times than I can count. Jessica's ability to capture the passion of any situation is a gift not to be overlooked. Hold on to your hats folks, because The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden will blow your mind!

Can she accept and harness her powers to win the fight against the ultimate evil, or will her inexperience and love for Trent keep her from accomplishing her destiny? Read Vampyre Kisses to find out!
This book started off slow, not slow in a bad way but I feel like it needs to be mentioned. With a story as engrossing as this one there is a lot of back story that needs to be explained before you can really get into the meat and potatoes of it. I like the fact that Elizabeth was able to litter this back story with steamy bits of Vamp on Witch romance. The characters in this story are so lovable (<3 Z.T.). I know I have a Mac and I am sure plenty of other girls do as well. The twists and turns in the plot are enough to knock you out of your seat! I gasped multiple times while reading and the anticipation of more never stopped. She placed a wonderful light on Faith's family dynamic and it showed that she thought a lot about every aspect of the characters. I cannot wait until the next installment of the Last Witch Series and will be sitting here very impatiently waiting for any word on it.

Mr. Melty Snow Dude
With the holidays right around the corner I thought now would be a great time to do a little "How-To" Baking Post. Easy right...? Nope, so I decided to do 3! Today's how-to baking bit is easy, relatively quick and the kids (even the littler ones) will love it! I have named it Mr. Melty Snow Dude.
First, start out in your grocery store cake/cookie isle and pick a flavor!
You will need:
- Cookie Mix
- White Icing (choose a flavor :) )
- Black Icing
- Orange Icing
- Marshmallows
- Cookie sheet
- Spatula
I picked pumpkin cookies and cream cheese icing and they came out amazing!
When you get every thing home start by baking the cookies. Bake them with the normal directions but remember they are going to be Melty Snow Dudes so they do not have to be round :)
Put them in the oven and bake! While they are baking, use your time to sample... I mean cut the marshmallows into halves.
Once the cookies come out of the oven make sure you let them cool completely before Icing them. :) It may take a couple bites to make sure they are cool and I assure you, no one will blame you.
Now it's time to decorate! Use the spatula (I like using the rounded back side. It gives me more maneuverability) to coat the White Icing on the cookie. It doesn't matter how you do it but I found icing them in a circular pattern made them look more realistic.
Next, add your Marshmallow head!
Now that you have your basic Melty Snow Dude, time to let the creativity out! Add eyes buttons and arms with the Black Frosting and don't forget the carrot nose with the Orange Icing!
When you are finished letting your inner Picasso out, you will have a whole field of awesome Mr. Melty Snow Dudes to take to the office Christmas Party or Dinner at the in-laws! (and his mother thought you were useless in the kitchen. HA!)
I hope you enjoyed this weeks adventure in Holiday Baking! Check back next week for a How-To on Hot Cocoa Gingerbread Houses!
