The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden

Beautiful, Painful, Moving, Perfect!

There are those who don’t get luck handed to them on a shiny platter, who end up in the wrong place at the wrong time, who don’t get saved.

Luck was not on Callie’s side the day of her twelfth birthday when everything was stolen from her. After it’s all over, she locks up her feelings and vows never to tell anyone what happened. Six years later her painful past consumes her life and most days it’s a struggle just to breathe.

For as long as Kayden can remember, suffering in silence was the only way to survive life. As long as he did what he was told, everything was okay. One night, after making a terrible mistake, it seems like his life might be over. Luck was on his side, though, when Callie coincidentally is in the right place at the right time and saves him.

Now he can’t stop thinking about the girl he saw at school, but never really knew. When he ends up at the same college as Callie, he does everything he can to try to get to know her. But Callie is reserved and closed off. The more he tries to be part of her life, the more he realizes Callie might need to be saved. (from Goodreads)

This book is beyond amazing! As I finished the last sentence, The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden easily shot its way up to the Number 1 spot in my favorite books by Jessica Sorensen list. It is a gritty, honest, scary and beautiful tale about the damaged lives of Callie and Kayden and how one night was able to change both of them for the better. Callie is a young woman I look up to tremendously. Her ability to change her life with the help of her friend Seth is a testament to how strong willpower can really be. Watching the Callie and Kayden grow together and help each other through the tough situations that riddle their past was heartfelt and touching. Jessica did an amazing job exposing their pain and showing their hope. All of the characters are able to band together and use each other to help overcome their issues.

This book portrays a very true view of what some people go through and it is not only an amazing read but will prove to be a great tool helping people in similar situations. I cannot rave enough about this book, I can only hope it is released before Christmas so I can buy copies for my family.

On the other side of the gritty nature of this book is a wonderful story about love and trust and how it must be earned. Jessica adds another smash hit to her adult contemporary bookshelf and had me drooling, more times than I can count. Jessica's ability to capture the passion of any situation is a gift not to be overlooked. Hold on to your hats folks, because The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden will blow your mind!
