Redemption Review

So, I finished this book a few days ago and it has taken me quite a while to get to typing a review, not because the book was bad but because it was SO FRIGGIN AWESOME!

Redemption is the 3rd book in the Angels Among Us Series. We find ourselves a few years after the wonderful wedding night of Jackson and Sarah. They are still on their first assignment guarding Elian, the Naphil child of Carmen and Nathan. Carmen has learned to sense the demons around her and her son, and when she is attacked inside the Cathedral she realizes the true horror that will be her life. When Jackson comes to save her and Elian, they realize that the demons are coming for Elian and they must formulate a plan. Nathan, who hasn’t seen Carmen or Elian since the night he fell, has been fighting the transformation to demon and when he finds out Elian is in trouble he is rallied to save his son and the woman he never stopped loving. When Eligos breaks the rules governing the Earth between the Father and the Dark One, Nathan, Carmen and the rest of the gang must go through Hell to bring Elian back to earth and keep him safe. Will they succeed or will Eligos and the Dark One succeed in bringing Elian to the dark and further propel the war of Light and Dark? :in a whiny voice: Not telling!

Can I start by saying wow, like really, WOW. She has done it again, Elise Marion has caused me to laugh, cry and scream in 1 chapter. This book is an amazing finish to a fantastic series. We get to see everyone “all grown up” in this story and it is wonderful to see how everyone has changed with the knowledge they have all gained. Elian is such a great character. He is a little boy with a wonderful view on the world even when he knows what happens. Jackson and Sarah have grown into a wonderful family and you can really tell she is happy with her decision. Jackson Jr. is ready to accept his first assignment and has a sense of responsibility that would make any father proud. The imagery Elise uses in this book to describe the demons and Hell are colorful enough to make your skin crawl. I could not put this book down and cannot say enough good things about it. Elise Marion, when are we getting the Guardians series? I need more ASAP!

Enlightened Blog Tour!

Good Morning everyone! Welcome to my day on the Enlightened blog tour! Before we get started on the interview with the very handsome Thorne can I just say, I LOVE this cover. It is so beautiful.

Jessie Lucente, a Light Tamer, has started her junior year at Parca Academy in New Bern, NC. She has a new boyfriend, Caleb Baldwin. He is beyond good looking, he is her mate for life. They've been bound by the light and will rule and heal with it too. Her new classes aren't what she expected. Finding out the school is filled with 'gifted' kids is almost too much to comprehend. She finds out what it really means to be a Light Tamer. Some of the assumptions she had are debunked and now everything is crystal clear...well, clear as mud. Now that she is enlightened with the facts, she struggles with the truth.

Thorne Woodson has all of the girls swooning. His Doc Martens and hoodie stand out against his school uniform. He might be the guy to heal Amber's broken, grieving heart. What's his story, and why does he appear everywhere Jessie is? He has a secret that will change the game for everyone. Who is he in cahoots with?

So without further ado, I would like to pass the light to Freelance reporter, Rebecca Kazaku, from Paranormal Talk!

-->
When Thorne came into the room, I had to remind myself not to stare with my mouth open.  He asked to meet at Trent River Coffee, one of Jessie’s favorite places.  His long-sleeved black thermal was hugging him, and leaving little to the imagination.  I swear I could see the brightness of his grey eyes from across the room.  He flashed me a crooked grin as he approached my table.
After a few minutes of introductions and coffee orders, he relaxed and leaned back in his chair, balancing it on the rear legs.
Where’s the strangest place you’ve lived?  I had an assignment with a homeless guy in Denver, Colorado.  We lived in boxes we kept hidden behind dumpsters at the big box store.  Did I mention it was below freezing most nights?  It was a six month assignment.
That sounds horrible, did you dumpster dive for food too?
In the beginning, yes we did.  I eventually bought a prepaid credit card and let him believe someone gave it to me for us to eat.
I thought you aren’t allowed to lie.
I didn’t lie, I omitted the truth.
That statement could get you in a little trouble with the female readers.
No, it wasn’t something that would harm him or hurt his feelings, I wanted to help him.
Speaking of female readers, the burning question is….have you ever been in love?
I live a life that gets in the way of relationships.  I dated a girl for about a year but she broke up with me because of my job.  She was human, and didn’t like the long spells of no communication.  I don’t believe we were IN love, but we were fond of each other.
 Guilty pleasure?
I love to go to the midnight showing of a movie that’s been anticipated for a long time.
What is one of those movies?
The Hunger Games, Jennifer Lawrence made a perfect Katniss.
 Favorite TV show?
I love Sons of Anarchy.  That show has a lot of shoot-‘em-up scenes.  I watch each show about three times before erasing off of my DVR.
 Are vampires real?
I’m not allowed to discuss the possibilities of other supernaturals.
Okay, everyone wants to know…what’s going on with you and Amber?
She’s a spitfire for sure.  As a guardian, it’s my priority to protect my charge.  It wouldn’t be fair to neglect a relationship with someone like Amber, she deserves better than that.
Do you have feelings for Jessie?
As in feelings, feelings?  No!  Of course not, she is my assignment.  I hold her friendship in high regard.  I don’t think Caleb would be too keen about me taking his girl.
Thorne leaned forward, scooting his coffee out of the way.  The smoldering look on his face almost stole my breath.
When a woman is slated to behead you, it takes away the attraction.  He broke out in a deep laugh that made my head spin.
Good point.  Okay, here’s the final questions, answer the first thought to your head.
Color - red
Song - Ho Hey
Food - Pasta
Place - bed
Book - The Lightening Thief
Season - Summer
Holiday - Halloween
Thank you for meeting me today.  I’m sure you have to get back to your guardian duties.
We said good-bye and I watched him as he walked away.  I literally swooned.

Thanks for giving us your exclusive interview with Thorne, Rebecca. I am sure the readers will love it just as much as I did!

Fallen From Grace Cover Reveal!

Seventeen year-old Grace grows up knowing she’s different, but she always attributed it to a mother who didn’t want her, a father who abandoned her, and a curse that sets her apart. The day of his funeral sets off a chain of events, making Grace question everything she’s ever known to be true, and as a result, who she can truly trust. She inherits his house, part of his money, his Guardian and something that ties them together.

Just before Grace’s 18th birthday, she is thrust into a world she couldn’t fathom existed and does everything she can to thwart the destiny suddenly forced upon her. She’s been chosen for greatness, but at what cost? With eyes now open, she must choose to either be Chosen, or watch those around her suffer the consequences.

Tempted Review

-->
Yes, I admit I fantasized about what this book would entail after reading Fallen, and it was even better than I imagined!
Tempted follows the story of Sarah, the messenger angel we met in Fallen. When Father gives her a new assignment to give a message to a future guardian she thinks it will be just like all of her other messages. When she meets Jackson she realizes that will not be the case. She is instantly hit with a barrage of emotions she has never felt before and becomes smitten with him. While protecting him from the demons who want to turn him to the dark side they begin to fall for each other. Sarah knows the consequences of falling for a human, if she lets her passion and urges win, she will become one of the fallen. Can she hold out to insure Jackson’s protection or will she become the very  thing she is trying to protect him from. Read it and find out for yourself!
So, this book, it’s… abso-freakin-lutely amazing! The second book in the series is more than I could ever have hoped for. The end of Fallen hinted at Redemption being Sarah’s story and I was excited to say the least. I loved watching Sarah’s transformation from emotionless angel to passionate protector and lover. I think Jackson’s character grounded the whole story. His history is so full of turmoil and so easily recognizable in this era. His story brings ”grit” to the story that balances perfectly with the passion he and Sarah have for each other. I could not stop reading this story and I was so sad when it ended I literally flipped straight to Redemption, book 3 in the series. This is a series that will hurt you and make you feel a love that can only be described by the last chapter. Yea, I am so NOT divulging the last chapter, but wow. If you love angels, romance, war, family, mastiffs… yea, so pretty much if you have a heart, you will love this book. Thank you Elise Marion for another exceptional novel about love, acceptance, heartbreak, sickness, health and doggies.

Eve Eden vs. The Zombie Horde

Time for a math lesson: 1 unsuspecting heroine + 1 Zombie Horde = 1 awesome book!

Eve Eden vs. The Zombie Horde is the first book in the Bedeviled Trilogy by new and upcoming author Suz Korb. Eve Eden is your typical sophomore in a small town. When her friend Kimi comes back from an archeological dig with her foster pops Derek, she gives Eve a present. The necklace with a trident and a star brings weird sensations to Eve but still for some reason she can’t seam to part with it. The next day, things really get weird. Kimi and Eve’s locker is gone, and eve can’t stop thinking about the weird visions she had about floating through orange clouds. When her parents and Derek insist she train at the battleship, the affectionate nickname for Kimi’s foster home, things gets seriously weird. Eve is transported to a cave where she meets a very handsome vampire and it just keeps getting worse. When she finally manages to get back to Twin Forest, she finds an angry woman in red leather that wants her necklace. When zombies start popping up from the cemetery, a new side of Eve Eden emerges, the side that can kick butt and take names. With 1 day of battleship training and her inexplicable ability to heal rapidly, Eve and her friends and parents fight the Zombie Horde to prevent Hell unleashing on earth. Will they be able to defeat Lucy the she-devil and send all the zombies back where they belong or will Twin Forest become a zombie-infested town?

This book is an amazing first for Suz. It has all of the makings of an amazing series. I loved her visions of Hell and I am very interested to learn more about how Eve is able to travel there. I love the fact that she really didn’t get too caught up in the love story but I cannot wait to learn more about Nathan. The friendships and relationships between the characters are very well written and you can easily relate people you know to the characters. At times the book gets kind of confusing but it really brings you into the inner turmoil that Eve is feeling and I think it works out very well. This book is definitely great for older YA readers who still think “Adult” books can get boring and an awesome transition for readers who are coming up to the YA world. I cannot wait finish the second book in the Bedeviled Trilogy: Eve Eden vs. The Bloodsucking Vampires, I hope you all enjoy this book as much as I did!

Fallen Aspens Review

This book is about Sunny, a girl who is pursuing a career in photojournalism. When Sunny’s first print assignment sends her to the small town of Aspenridge where she was born she freaks out worried the murderer will find her. When she arrives in town it is just like she remembered it and the note in her cabin proves it, he knows she is there. She is anxious to leave town but will she be able to before he finds her or will the mysterious girl Angel do something to make her stay?

This story was far to short to be fair! I excitedly flipped to the next page only to read the About the Author and that made me sad. Aside from the fact that it ended way sooner than I would have liked this story was amazing!! Sunny is such a dynamic character. I loved her ability to overcome her fear and prevail. I really was on the edge of my seat until the very end and I loved the outcome (no I will not spoil the ending). I really hope I get to hear more about Sunny and her story in an upcoming book HINT HINT!

James Fuller Interview

I was recently granted the amazing opportunity to interview James Fuller and I figured now that you all have continually heard be touting his wonders I would let you all in on the mind of James Fuller. I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did.

Jenn: Hi James, thanks for coming to visit us on the blog today.

James: I am happy to be here, thanks for having me.

Jenn: So, there has been a lot of buzz about you on the internet lately. It seems like your books are really catching on. How does that make you feel?

James: Some days speechless, other days I can do nothing but smile. It really is a great feeling to know my books are being enjoyed. It makes all the countless hours, days, weeks, months worth it.

Jenn: I’ve already finished Unforgivable 1 and 2 and can I say Holy Biscuit Eaters they were amazing! How did you come up with the idea for that story?

James: The idea was originally to have them turned into a dark comic series, but I am having some issues finding an artist who has the right style for the story to do it justice. But I wanted to create a dark story of revenge, something that people would read and say *holy sh!t!* Most revenge stories the main character is rich, or a soldier or has powerful friends or has powers or something. I didn’t want that. I wanted just a guy who I could push to his breaking point and I think I pushed poor Jamus passed breaking. There were a few scene I myself was surprised turned out the way they did.

Jenn: I loved how in depth you got with Sophia in Unforgivable Part 2, did the idea for her come from someone you know or is she completely fictional?

James: Sofia is completely fictional, but I had to do a lot of research for her character. Her story as much as it was the same as her father’s it was completely different. Sofia was damaged as most people would be having gone through what she did at such a young age and then growing up on the run. Sofia has to be one of my favorite characters I have ever had the pleasure of creating and I am glad I was able to do her story justice.

Jenn: What made you decide to write historical fiction?

James: I am not sure I would call it historical fiction, more just dark fiction, placed in a historical time.

Jenn: Do you go to Ren Fairs? If so, is it a family affair? Do you go as your own characters?

James: I have not gone to one yet, but it is on my list and I am sure my family would be thrilled to go and I know my wife would dress up if I did.

Jenn: In Fall of a King: Fall of a King the Gifted are born with white eyes, why is that?

James: It was a way to separate those born with powers to those who weren’t. But to explain further would ruin a plot line that will come up later.

Jenn: What can we expect from Book 2: Brothers of Blood?

James: Brothers of Blood is the next step up in my writing and the story of Meath and his friends. I hold nothing back in this book and their characters get defined deeply and so many twists and turns are finally revealed setting the plot structure for the next 4 books.

Jenn: With all of the amazing fight scenes you write I have to know… Do you have combat or theatrical combat training?

James: Funny you should ask. I have done martial arts for many years and enjoy fencing, knife throwing and archery. I have quite a collection of medieval weapons and for many of the battle scenes my wife and friends are so kind as to battle me to ensure the moves are possible.

Jenn: Recently you gave some of your Facebook fans a peak at Starcrossed Lover, a short story you wrote, what are the chances you are going to grace us with a full book version of that story?

James: I have gotten such great feedback from that story. I woke up at 2am and ran down to my laptop and wrote that story in about 10 minutes. I am not sure where it really came from I just knew I had to write it. As far as a full version with the amount of people asking me I am thinking I might very well have to.

Jenn: Ok, so time for the quick fire round! Chocolate or Caramel?

James: Chocolate

Jenn: Dogs or Cats?

James: Reptiles

Jenn: Dagger or Broadsword?

James: Dagger

Jenn: Hardcover or E-reader?

James: Hardcover

Jenn: Beach or Mountain?

James: Mountain

Jenn: Favorite Number?

James: 8

Jenn: Favorite Color?

James: Red

Jenn: Favorite Character to write?

James: Sofia was my favorite but since her story is finished I would have to say Astaroth.

Jenn: Favorite book of all time?

Jenn: Awesome! Thanks for hanging out with me today for this interview, is there anything else you want to tell your readers?

James: I just would like to say thank you to everyone who has taken the time to pick up one of my books and read it. And I am near speechless every time I get a glowing review. And I hope never to disappoint my fans.

Thank you everyone for checking out my interview with James Fuller. I hope it helped you all get through another tumultuous Black Friday!

Fall of A King Review

When a strange woman leaves a Gifted baby alone in the woods Master Ursa decides he will give this baby the life he deserves. Little did he know, the fate of their kingdom would come to rest on the two of them. When Prince Baritt arrives in Draco a huge celebration erupts. With the marriage of Prince Baritt and Princess Nicolette a new peace will be forged between the warring kingdoms of Draco and Zandor. What the people of Draco do not know is that the Prince is not who he seams and he is hell bent on taking over Draco no matter how much blood he spills. When Princess Nicolette and Ursa find out about this terrible plot they seek the King’s knowledge and guidance but they are too late. The pseudo prince has already attacked and murdered the King. Ursa knows that Nicolette is next and leaves the kingdom with Meath, the baby he saved so long ago, to tell the other kingdoms of this treachery. As Ursa, Meath and the Princess wind their way through the lands they meet up with some friends and foe in an effort to save their Kingdom. Will they make it to Dragon’s Cove and warn Lord Marcus and Lady Jewel before the rumors reach the sea side fortress or will the barbarians, druids and highway robbers stop them from reaching Dragon’s Cove in time?

James Fuller has done it again, three books three rave reviews! Fall of a King: The False Prince is very different from the Unforgivable series but just as captivating. The shear amount of detail he is able to include in his writing without bogging the reader down is amazing! There are so many different story lines and views to the story it is an ADD kids dream come true (and I mean that in the best way. It keeps you really entertained). The good and evil portrayed so close each other and yet so distant is phenomenal. I have loved watching the characters grow as they take on the different obstacles in front of them and seeing the new friendships formed. Princess Nicolette is an amazing heroine and a girl I would be proud to know. I cannot say enough good things about this book without giving away some of its mystery. Please do not be scared by the page count of this book, be enthralled and excited that the next book in the Fall of a King Series is out soon because I promise you will not be able to put this one down!

Teaser:
Hesitantly, I push open the door and poke my head into the dimly lit room. “Hello.”
Kayden walks out from the back room without a shirt on and a towel pressed up to his face.  “Hey, did you get the stuff?”
I slip into the room and shut the door the door behind me. I hold out the first aid kit and icepack to him, with my head turned toward the door to avoid looking at him. His bare chest, and the way his jeans ride low on his hips smothers me with uneasiness.
“I don’t bite, Callie.” His tone is light as he takes the kit and pack.  “You don’t have to stare at the wall.”
I compel my eyes to look at him and it’s hard not to look at the scars that crisscross along his stomach and chest. The vertical lines that run down his forearms are the most disturbing, thick and jagged as if someone took a razor to his skin.  I wish I could run my fingers along each one and erase it away, removing the pain and memories that hold with it. It hurts to look at it and I lift my gaze to his meet eyes.
He quickly lowers the towel to cover himself up and confusion gleams from his good eye. He presses the pack to his swollen and balances the kit down on the edge of the pool table, his fingers quivering as he pulls his hand back, each knuckle is scraped raw to bone. “Can you get the gauze out of that for me. My hand’s a little sore.”
My fingers fumble to open the kit, my fingernail catching on the edge, and it splits open. Blood pools out as I open the lid and I retrieve the gauze. “You might need stiches on that cut below the eye. It looks bad.”
He dabs at the cut with the towel, wincing from the pain. “It’ll be fine. I just need to clean it up and get it covered.”
The steaming hot water runs down my body, scorching my skin with red makes and blisters. I just want to feel clean again. I blink and take the damp towel from him, careful not to let our fingers touch. I examine the open wound, so deep the muscle and tissue is showing.
“You really need stiches,” I tell him. “Or you’re going to have a scar.”
The corners of his lips tug up into a sad smile. “I can handle scars, especially one’s on the outside.”
I understand his meaning from the depths of my heart.

My Interview with Airicka Phoenix

Jenn: Hello Airicka, Thank you again for agreeing to do aninterview with me I know you are busy prepping for the release of TouchingEternity.
Airicka: It’s my pleasure! Thank you so much for having mejoin you and your readers today.
Jenn: So what can we expect from your new book?
Airicka:Touching Eternity is a standalone of the Touch Series. It’s the story of Amalie& Isaiah, which we touch on in Touching Smoke, but get to fully experience. So that said I’ll add that Touching Smoke has to be read first in order toavoid confusion. Touching  Eternityis dark. I think people who haveread Touching Smoke will be very surprised by the severity of TouchingEternity. A lot of Touching Smoke comes off light and fun because of Fallon’ssarcasm and her sense of humor. Touching Eternity is very powerful in the sensethat it’s about Amalie. Amalie is a very broken character. Her story is uniqueand tragic. But it’s because of her that Fallon is created and that makes herstory all the more important. It’s one that needs to be told. I only suggestthat people read it with great care. It does delve into situations that aren’tsuitable for everyone.
Jenn: How do you come up with your stories?
Airicka: The stories are all already up there. I just haveto put them to paper. It’s never about inspiration, it’s about telling thestory already rooted in you brain.
Jenn: Who is your favorite character to write?
Airicka: I don’t have just one. I think of all my charactersas my children. I don’t pick favorites.
Jenn: Do you take your characters from people you know orcreate a whole new person?
Airicka: I never use real people as inspiration. Building acharacter from scratch is much more fun in my opinion.
Jenn: When did you know you wanted to write books?
Airicka: Since the third grade when I was asked to write astory with pictures and words and rewrote Beauty and the Beast.
Jenn: What drew you to YA fiction?
Airicka: I love the path it has taken since I was ateenager. There are so many varieties now, so many options. I love that.
Jenn: Do you have any advice for aspiring authors?
Airicka: Never give up. Research your market. Write what youwant to read. Don’t let negativity in and above all else, always make time towrite.
Jenn: Is there any chance we can get a teaser from TouchingEternity *please, please, pretty please*
Airicka: “What if your father goes to your room and findsit empty?”
She peeled one eye open, squinted at him. “He’ll come in here and force you tomarry me in order to uphold my honor.”
He laughed, smoothing a finger over her cheek. "He wouldn’t have to forceme to do anything.” He kissed her gaping mouth. “Come on. Get up.”
Her giggles filled his ear when he nuzzled the spot beneath her the curve ofher jaw. She squirmed, but he held her down, biting and nibbling on the smoothstretch of skin. Her squeals faded into soft moans that sent his blood skatingwith fire. Her fingers tangled in his hair. Her body arched into his, fittingevery inch as though she were made specifically for him. His own hand traveleddown to her hip. His intentions were to stop her, to restrain her before thingswent too far, but his hand came up against smooth flesh where her nightgown hadbunched, exposing her leg from the hip down and his all good intentions scattered.
Jenn: So outside of writing we have been seeing a lot ofyour digital media lately (some killer new book covers, Website designs andbook trailers!) Is there anything you can’t do?
Airicka: I can’t knit. It sounds stupid, but I’ve tried andI failed horribly!! I wound up using the yarn for another craft. It wasembarrassing. LOL.
Jenn: Are you really going to make us wait until the end ofJuly for Book 2 Touching Fire? It’s hard enough waiting for Touching Eternityand I know it is only going to get worse after we all read Touching Eternity. What are the chances of an early release?
Airicka: VERY good, if you can keep a secret. I have 2 bookscoming out after Touching Eternity. One is a contemporary romance that will bereleased Valentine’s Day. The other is my Hunter series. But Touching Fire willbe out right after that. I can’t wait until July either!! I am dying to getback to Fallon & Isaiah.
Jenn: Thank you again so much for this interview. Hopefullywe answered enough questions to satiate the masses. It was a pleasure havingyou stop by today and I look forward to having you back again soon!
Airicka: I had so much fun. Thank you for having me, Jenn. It’s been a delight to sit with you and your readers. I really hope we can doit again soon as well! <3
Thank you all for visiting my stop on the tour be sure to check out all of Airicka's pages and make sure you pick up your copy of Touching Eternity!
