The Mind Readers Review

Is the ability to read minds a blessing or a curse?

Cameron looks like your normal everyday girl, but she has a secret no one can know. She can read minds. It makes her life very difficult. She cannot tell people because the repercussions would be to great, but how are you supposed to live knowing when something good or bad is going to happen. Cameron uses her ability like any High School senior would, she gets good grades and is best friends with the most popular girl in school. When a fellow senior shows up dead on the beach, and she hears someone’s though confessing the murder how will she react? When a new kid Lewis shows up at school the next day she is immediately smitten. He is beautiful and hints that he too can read minds. When Lewis actually admits he can read minds, her whole world changes. He talks about someone named Aaron who can teach her how to block out the thoughts of others and teach her to control her gift. When she leaves her grandmother who has taken care of her since her mother left her at 5, Lewis takes her to Aarons home where she is taught to control her powers. Then late one night she learns of the horror in the basement. From there she enters a fight with her conscience over right and wrong and whether love conquers all. What will she decide, whose side will she choose in the end?

This book was great! Within the first 2 chapters you know this book will be full of suspense and action. I really enjoyed watching the change in Cameron from the beginning of the book where she is a meek girl who just wants a normal senior year to the empowered woman that stands up for what she believes in and is willing to fight for it. The action in this story never seems to stop, there is always something going on to propel the story forward. The relationships Lori is able to create are amazing. You can feel the tension between all of the characters. When Cameron learns what really happened to her family you can see the pain behind the stoic girl. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants an action packed story sprinkled with romance.
